Azorian
Notice:
This watch is built to order. Production and testing takes 3-5 weeks.
Project Azorian was a covert operation undertaken by the United States during the Cold War, aimed at recovering a sunken Soviet submarine, K-129, which had sunk in the Pacific Ocean in 1968. Spearheaded by the CIA, the project involved the construction of a specially designed ship, the Hughes Glomar Explorer, which was ostensibly a deep-sea mining vessel. The operation sought to retrieve the submarine and its potentially sensitive materials, including cryptographic equipment and nuclear missiles, without drawing attention to its true purpose. Although the mission ultimately recovered only a portion of the submarine, it highlighted the lengths to which the U.S. government would go to gather intelligence during a time of heightened geopolitical tension.
We chose to name our new watch after this intrepic mission. We see this as the intersection of commercial and military uses, with special consideration being put into the design of the dial, case, and strap for visibility, durability and comfort. We chose to use the Swiss Sellita SW200 Automatic movement with 38 hours of power reserve and a 4Hz action. The dial and hands are Swiss made and use the brightest composition of the X1 Grade of C3 Luminova. The case uses a triple gasket system and has been tested to ensure superb water resistance in all temperature conditions.
